Finally, there is a bona fide study that has conclusively proved that the dangers of radiation exposure in mammograms is harmful and severe. I could have fallen out of my chair when I read this statement: “Routine mammography delivers an unrecognized high dose of radiation, warn Drs. Epstein and Bertell. If a woman follows the current guidelines for premenopausal screening, over a 10 year period she would receive a total dosage of about 5 rads. This approximates the level of exposure to radiation of a Japanese woman one mile from the epicenter of atom bombs dropped on Hiroshima or Nagasaki.” I read this article today and it further confirms my belief that Thermography is definitely safer than mammography. Women today need to do their own research on where to get a Thermography and understand why it is safer and equally effective.
Women’s Centers that offer mammography are telling women that a Thermography can be obtained in their center. Here is my true story: I called my local Women’s Center affiliated with the hospital in my community to inquire as to whether or not they conducted Thermography breast screenings. I stressed the word THERmography and even spelled it for the receptionist and I was assured that they indeed conduct the screenings. Great! I thought, and made the appointment for three weeks away. When I got to the appointment I advised that I arrived to get a Thermography and handed the clerk my script which read the same. I was ushered into the changing room, stripped down everything from the waist up, donned a gown, and followed the nurse to the testing room. When I saw the mammography machine I was perplexed, so I said, “I’m here for a Thermography NOT a mammography. It says Thermography right on my script from the doctor.” The nurse said to me arrogantly, “Yes, I see that, but we don’t do Thermography’s. So while you’re here, you may as well have a mammography.” Everything within me had to stop from the little girl from rising within me who used to fight anyone anywhere back on the South Side of Chicago when things did not go my way. Instead, I screamed at the nurse, “What part of THERmography don’t you understand. And no thank you, I won’t be having a mammography today or any other day.” I took back my script, stormed out of the center, and later Dr. Brookshire had a serious talk with the office manager about the communication deficit of her staff.
I said all of this to say that it is so important to be informed, make informed choices from the information you gather, and then stand your ground NO MATTER WHAT. If I wasn’t an informed consumer then while I was standing half naked in an exam room, I might have been bullied by that nurse in to having a procedure I did not want.
Dr. Mercola weaves the monetary conspiracy into why a procedure that is known for intense radiation exposure is even suggested to women everywhere. This article is certainly worth the read:
